Quinceanera, Sweet 15

For hundreds of years young women in Latin America from Mexico to Argentina have celebrated their quinceañera their 15th birthday in grand tradition, beginning with a Catholic Mass and continuing on to a large and extravagant celebration. In some parts of the United States the tradition thrives, particularly among second- and third-generation Hispanic girls. Quinceañera parties are generally very lavish, with mariachi bands and dj's, a feast, and many guests celebrating the 15-year-old's transition into womanhood.

Our guest of honor is escorted into the facility with a group consisting of seven girls (damas), seven boys (chambelanes). After the introductions the group then dance to a traditional waltz.

There is then a toast where her mother crowns her with a tiara and her father changes her flat shoes into sparkly high heels. After the toast, our Quince dances a traditional waltz with her father or relative.

After all the formalities are finished, food is served, followed by fun and dancing. We play a wide variety of salsa, merengue, bachata, reggeton, and requests from guests and family.
