Tips on Hiring a DJ
There are a lot of disc jockey companies in the New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania area. Most people that want to book DJ entertainment for their party usually shop for the cheapest price. However, not all DJ companies are the same, therefore we have listed several imporant points to consider before hiring a disc jockey soley on price. 1. Experience: For example, if you're planning a wedding you would not want to select a DJ that plays only at school dances. In most cases these DJ are just starting out in the business and aren't prepared for weddings. They are not likely to have the variety of music that is necessary to perform and may not be prepared to emceeing a wedding. On the other hand, if you are planning a school dance or prom you want to make sure your DJ has all the latest Rap/Hip Hop/Dance/Alternative Music as well as a larger sound system and light show for such events. Make sure the DJ you select has the skills and equipment necessary for your type of event. 2. Personality/Interactive: Every party is different. Some people want a DJ who has a lot of energy and is fun. Others want low-key affairs. This is something to consider before you speak to a DJ. You also should make it clear to the DJ what you would like at your event. 3. Training: How long has your DJ been in this line of work? Our DJ's are trained for 1 year on the job training plus have training classes. They only go out with our experienced DJ's. All of our DJ/MC's have at least 8 or more years with our company. 4. Music Library: Our DJ's are required to carry music from all types of genres. Our DJ's spend a lot of time upgrading music so they can fulfill most of your requests and requests received from your guests at your event. 5. Equipment: Our DJ's carry top of the line equipment from Denon, Pioneer JBL, Shure, Samson and Mackie. We have integrated back up systems should a problem arise, this gives our customers peace of mind. 6. Contracts: We can't stress enough how important it is to have a written contract with your DJ. You don't want to become one of those people who have horror stories about how their DJ canceled a booking at the last minute. A contract assures your DJ company will be there at a specific place at a specific time. 7. References: We recommend you ask for references from previous clients or better yet, make an appointment with the DJ. Most DJ's have references in a form of a questionnaire they send to their clients after the party is finished, or a letter they receive from the clients. In most cases those letters appear in a book or on their walls so you can see for yourselves. 8. Dress Code: Appearance is everything. Our DJ's unless told otherwise, we show up in a tuxedo. If you are having a more casual event, please let us know. |
